BOYS TENNIS BRIEF

FALCONS OVERWHELM LYNX BOYS: The Aplington-Parkersburg boys’ tennis team has overwhelmed its entire schedule so far this season and Webster City just happened to be next in line Tuesday afternoon at the Lynx Courts.

The Falcons (6-0) dropped just seven games in singles and one in doubles en route to a 9-0 victory, their fifth shutout in six dual meets. Four of the nine match wins were 10-0 sweeps.

Still, WCHS head coach Michael Ross found the positives against the best team the Lynx have faced. The A-P No. 1 doubles team of Cameron Luhring and Cael Lupkes has dropped just two games all season and one of them came against Heath Patterson and Seth Nelson on Tuesday. The Lynx No. 3 doubles team of Walter Moreira-Suarez and Brody Henderson took five games to deuce, but was unable to prevail in any of them.

“It’s just a matter of overcoming those deuces and getting some wins,” Ross said. “Even in a loss against a quality A-P team, those guys are improving each night.”
