Baedke resigns as Lynx head coach effective immediately

Vogelbacher takes over as interim head coach for remainder of season

WEBSTER CITY — Webster City girls’ soccer head coach Paul Baedke has resigned, effective immediately, the school announced on Tuesday.

Webster City Schools Superintendent Dr. Mandy Ross confirmed the news in an email to The Daily Freeman-Journal, and she also said that Chad Vogelbacher, a longtime assistant coach with the program, has been named the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

Dr. Ross said Baedke chose to resign for personal reasons. She received his resignation on Monday.

Vogelbacher is the father of Sarah Vogelbacher, the Lynx girls’ soccer program’s all-time leader in goals and assists. His son, Sean, was also a multiple-sport standout and a member of two WCHS state golf championship teams in 2016 and 2017.

Vogelbacher’s debut in charge of the Lynx came yesterday evening when WCHS went on the road to face Collins-Maxwell.
