WCHS girls win three medals, finish sixth in opening meet of season

HUMBOLDT — The Webster City girls’ track and field team won three medals and compiled seven top-five finishes in its opening meet of the season here Thursday night.

Competing at the Nielsen Family Girls’ Indoor, the Lynx scored 49 points to finish in the sixth position. Humboldt (132 points) claimed the team title ahead of runner-up Carlisle (111).

Two relays finished in the runner-up position for the Lynx. The quartet of Addie Tesdahl, McKenzie Mishler, Brynna Croy and Lynne Roberts took the silver in the 60-meter shuttle hurdle relay in a time of 44.71 seconds. Mishler and Tesdahl were joined by Dasha Sankey and Kaelyn Butz on the second-place distance medley (5:04.48).

Shelby Queen was the Lynx lone individual medalist, as she placed third in the 800 (3:00.78).

Croy finished in the fifth position in both the 60 hurdles (11.30) and 400 (1:14.22).

Chloe Andersen placed fourth in the high jump (4 feet, 6 inches), as did the 4×200 crew of Tesdahl, Mishler, Bonnie Nohrenberg and Kennedy Moore.

WCHS will kick off its outdoor season at the Richard Ryan Relays in Gowrie on Tuesday, April 6.
