Short-handed SH girls come up short
PCM rallied back from an 11-2 deficit after one quarter to knock off the Hawks, 49-38.
Also missing for South Hamilton were Zoey Duns, Aspen Wibholm, Abby Ervin and Paige Evans. But Hewitt’s absence was particularly noticeable, and she’ll likely miss the remainder of the regular season due to a concussion.
Aneesa Balderas was back in the Hawks’ lineup after missing two games due to an ankle injury.
PCM (9-11, 7-6 HOIC) outscored South Hamilton 17-4 in the second quarter to seize command. The Mustangs led 19-15 at the intermission and 35-27 after three quarters.
The Hawks didn’t help themselves in the foul-plagued contest. They made just 8 of 29 free throws.
The two teams combined for 49 fouls and four players fouled out.
PCM all-conference leader Regan Freland had no problems at the charity stripe though. She connected on 10 of 12 attempts and scored a game-high 17 points. Lillian Baird buried two 3-pointers and scored 10 points for the visitors.
Brookelyn George led South Hamilton with nine points and Hallee Feaker chipped in eight more. Hailey Diersen finished with six points.
