HAWKS START FAST, TAKE DOWN IF-A: South Hamilton raced out to a 17-7 lead after one quarter, led 28-12 at the half and then hung on in the second half for a confidence-building 60-54 non-conference victory over Iowa Falls-Alden Saturday night in Iowa Falls.

Three players scored in double figures for the Hawks (11-6). Doran Lutjen poured in 18 points, Quinton Grove knocked down 9 of 10 free throws en route to 11 points, and Cade Balvanz added 10 points. Austin Busch fell just short; he put up nine points to go along with seven rebounds. Grove grabbed a team-high eight boards.

All-state candidate Karson Sharar led IF-A (10-8) and all scorers with 24 points. Blake Janssen chipped in 16 for the Cadets.

The Hawks (6-12) missed 18 of 29 foul shots in a 39-36 loss to Iowa Falls-Alden (2-18).

Brookelyn George led South Hamilton with 11 points and Emma Lewis finished with seven.

Jenny Wibholm (13 points) and Marlee Lancaster (11 points) scored in double figures for the Cadets.
