Without Feaker, Hawks suffocated by Nevada defense in blowout loss

JEWELL — Without leading scorer and starting point guard Hallee Feaker, the South Hamilton girls’ basketball team didn’t have enough offense or press breakers to handle Nevada on Coach Jim Marsh Court Friday night.

The Cubs cashed in on nine 3-point baskets and pressed the Hawks into submission for a 52-16 Heart of Iowa Conference romp.

Feaker, a freshman, sat and watched while nursing a foot injury.

The Cubs (4-2, 3-1 HOIC) sprinted out to a 23-7 lead after one quarter. They limited South Hamilton (2-4, 1-2 HOIC) to just three second-half points.

Addi Vorm knocked down four of the Cubs’ triples and scored a game-high 15 points. Elie Tuhn and Maddie Dunham both rained in a pair of 3s and scored 14 and eight points, respectively.

South Hamilton received six points from Caleigh Hewitt, and three from three others — Hailey Diersen, Brookelyn George and Aneesa Balderas.
