WEBSTER CITY — South Hamilton picked up a pair of Class 1A all-state football honors from the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association today.

Brock Galetich, a junior defensive back, was named to the second team, while senior defensive lineman Jeremiah Smith scooped up a third-team accolade.

“They’re both kids that work really hard during the season and offseason, so it’s great for them and a good reflection on our program,” South Hamilton head coach Corey Klemp said. “Both kids take a lot of pride in their play, so I couldn’t be happier for them.”

Galetich shared the 1A lead in interceptions (nine) with first-team member Brady Duwa of Sigourney-Keota. Galetich had at least one pick in seven of the Hawks’ nine games and he came up with two INTs in two games.

“Brock is a very athletic kid, his quickness is off the charts and he has a really high football IQ,” Klemp said. “He’s one of those guys that plays very big.”

Smith, the 2018 1A District 2 defensive player of the year, battled double teams with a shoulder injury throughout the season. He still managed to share the team lead in tackles with 42. He made 91⁄2 tackles for loss, including 51⁄2 sacks.
