Hawks come up empty at triangular
ELDORA — South Hamilton hit a speed bump in the non-conference portion of its volleyball season here Tuesday evening.
Even with senior leader Hailey Cavan back on the outside of the front row for the first time this season, the Hawks (8-7) dropped matches to South Hardin and North Tama.
South Hardin took the out the Hawks in three sets, 25-11, 20-25, 15-10. North Tama swept past South Hamilton, 25-17, 25-11.
Cavan, an all-Heart of Iowa Conference hitter a season ago, served as the team’s libero during the first week of the regular season while she nursed an ankle injury. Back in the front row against South Hardin, she cranked out a team-high five kills and hit .500. Hailey Diersen laced four kills, while Caleigh Hewitt and Kaylee Oskvig had two each.
Oskvig had a solid performance defensively with 10 digs, while Cavan and Emily Greenfield registered seven each. Greenfield also distributed all 13 of the team’s assists in the match.
No additional information from South Hamilton’s match against North Tama was available as of press time.
The Hawks will take part in the South Central Calhoun Invite on Saturday.
