POKY ENDS LYNX WIN STREAK: Pocahontas Area scored a run on a hit by pitch to break up a 5-5 tie in the sixth inning last night, and the Indians went on to beat Webster City, 6-5, in Pocahontas.

The Lynx (5-4) saw their win streak halted at three games, while Pocahontas Area (7-2) won its fifth consecutive contest.

Dylan Steen went 3 for 3, one of his hits being a double. Beau Klaver also found the gap for a double in the loss.

No other Lynx player supplied a hit.

Zach Dyvig drove in one run on a squeeze bunt. Caleb Olson and CJ Hisler both had RBI sacrifice flies.

Olson suffered the loss on the mound. He worked into the sixth inning before handing the ball off to Klaver.

HAWKS REBOUND IN BIG WAY: One night after a disappointing effort in a 2-1 loss to Gilbert, the South Hamilton softball team rebounded to punish Roland-Story, 8-1, at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex in Jewell last night.

The Hawks (8-2), which saw their seven-game winning streak end against Gilbert, smacked 10 hits and beat the Norsemen (4-5) for the second time.

Jessi Harms went 3 for 3 at the dish with a double and RBI. Breanne Diersen collected two hits, one of them a double, and drove in one run. Emma Lewis and Kaylee Oskvig both singled and produced two RBIs.

Cortney Harris went 2 for 4, while Krista Swenson added one hit in three plate appearances. Leah Jacoby plated a run.

Taylor Volkmann picked up the win in the circle. The senior right-handed pitcher struck out nine batters and surrendered just two hits.

LYNX JV SOFTBALL UNBEATEN: The Webster City junior varsity softball team sits at 3-0-1 on the season.

The Lynx beat Algona Garrigan (14-2), Clear Lake (6-5) and Fort Dodge St. Edmond (9-4), and tied Storm Lake (1-1).

Alley Odland ripped two hits and Livia Kasch had one against Garrigan. Kelly Stoakes dominated in the pitcher’s circle with 12 strikeouts.

Odland found the gap for a triple and scored a pair of runs against Clear Lake. Stoakes and Atlanta Hopp combined to allow six hits and strike out five.

Kasch went 2 for 3 with a double, two runs scored and two stolen bases, while Keyla Martinez added two singles and two RBIs against St. Edmond. Stoakes and Hopp again platooned in the circle and fanned 10.

Odland, Kasch, Kayley Wibholm and Hallie Hackbarth all had a hit versus Storm Lake. Stoakes gave up just three hits and whiffed 11.

LYNX JV BASEBALL CLIPS GAELS: The Webster City junior varsity baseball team knocked off St. Edmond, 6-5, on Wednesday.

The Lynx finished with three hits. Jayce Neuroth earned the win on the bump. Elijah Killian also saw time on the mound.
