SH GIRLS FOURTH AT LEAGUE TOURNEY: Krista Swenson’s 96 was good enough for sixth on the individual leaderboard and it led the South Hamilton girls’ golf team to a fourth-place finish at Wednesday’s Heart of Iowa Conference tournament in Boone.

Gilbert fired a 375 to win the team title at Cedar Pointe Golf Club. Nevada (391) was second, followed by Roland-Story (407).

Defending Class 3A state champion Britta Snyder simply played a different game than the rest of the field. The Baylor recruit posted a 70 to win the individual crown by 16 shots over runner-up Emma Griffin (86) of Nevada.

Katelyn Sogard (107), Cortney Harris (109) and Grace Young (113) also provided counting scores for South Hamilton.

HAWKS SEVENTH AT HOIC: The South Hamilton boys’ golf team shot a 187 and placed seventh at Tuesday’s Heart of Iowa Conference Tournament at the Tournament Club of Iowa in Polk City.

The tournament was shortened to nine holes due to the rain showers that blanketed central Iowa throughout the day.

Nevada cruised to the team title with a 143, while Prairie City-Monroe took second with a 164.

Nevada held down the top four individual spots as well. Kyle Linder was the champion with a 35, one shot in front of teammates Harold Dobernecker, Caden Jones and Dylan Sporrer.

South Hamilton’s Wyatt Heins tied for 14th.
