Humboldt wins title by 18 strokes over runner-up Lions

FORT DODGE — Humboldt put three players on the first page of the leaderboard and putted its way to a North Central Conference girls’ golf title at the Fort Dodge Country Club on Monday.

The Wildcats posted a 350 to finish 18 shots clear of runner-up Clear Lake (368). Hampton-Dumont (409) was a distant third, while Webster City (484) finished at the back of the eight-team field.

Frances Carlson (85) was second for Humboldt, while teammates Nora Carlson (86) and Kenzie McCarten (88) were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Clear Lake’s Ashley DeLong took home the individual title following a round of 83.

Katie Casady was the Lynx low player, as she occupied the 30th-place spot with a 115. One spot behind her with a matching score was Ella Dinsdale. Peyton Hilpipre (118) finished in 33rd, and Jayde Bertran (136) closed out the team’s scoring in 45th.

Emma Bailey (137) and Ursula Leksell (139) were 46th and 47th, respectively.
