Hawks 4th at Class 2A regional

PARKERSBURG — The South Hamilton girls’ golf team shot a 407 and placed fourth at the Class 2A Region 3 tournament on Monday.

New Hampton tamed Legends Trail Golf Course with a winning score of 339, while Dike-New Hartford was the runner-up with a 376. Both teams advanced to next week’s state tournament.

Sumner-Fredericksburg was third with a 400.

“It was an extremely competitive regional, a lot of top quality golfers condensed into one region,” South Hamilton head coach Kathi Fisher said. “As a team we finished around our average, so I wasn’t disappointed with our results.”

Krista Swenson led the Hawks with a 91, good enough for seventh place overall. The top six individuals qualified for state.

Katelyn Sogard added a 101, Cortney Harris a 107 and Grace Young a 108.
