Briefs: Lynx girls soccer, girls and boys tennis

CADETS HANDLE LYNX, 6-1: Iowa Falls-Alden scored four goals in the first half and rolled to a 6-1 victory over Webster City in a girls’ soccer match Friday evening in Iowa Falls.

Alyssa Boomsa and Emma Olberding both scored two first-half goals for the Cadets (6-6). Autumn Schott and Gabs Damiano added goals after intermission.

Leah Kasch got WCHS (2-7) on the board in the 72nd minute with a penalty kick goal. IF-A was called for a push in the box to set up the PK.

The Cadets owned a 13-3 edge on shots on goal and took seven more corner kicks, 9-2.

In two meetings this season, IF-A outscored the Lynx 17-3.

LYNX GIRLS TENNIS OUSTED AT TEAM REGIONALS: North Polk took five singles matches in straight sets to knock off Webster City in a Class 1A team regionals first-round match on Saturday in Huxley.

Teagan Gourley won four games in the No. 2 spot for the Lynx. Kayley Wibholm also won four games at No. 5, while Hannah Parr and Mackenzie Burney won three each.

LYNX BOYS TENNIS SEASON ENDS: The Webster City boys’ tennis team saw its season end with four losses at Friday’s Class 1A district meet in Boone.

Cody Van Kooten and Seth Nelson both dropped their singles matches 6-0, 6-0. Van Kooten fell to top-seed and eventual champion Evan Moon of North Polk.

The Lynx doubles teams of Heath Patterson and George Vila, and Evan Estlund and Chase Black were also blanked 6-0, 6-0. Estlund and Black were dispatched by district runners-up Seth Wohlgemuth and Chase Winterboer of Ballard.
