Lynx break into win column against Boone
Gallentine notches two goals, Kasch and Queen one each
Three different players punched in goals and the Lynx picked up their first win of the season, 4-2 over Boone in the third-place match of the Boone tournament.
WCHS dropped into the consolation match following a 3-0 semifinal setback against tournament runner-up Carroll Kuemper. The Knights went on to fall in the finals to Iowa Falls-Alden.
Morgan Gallentine found the back of the net twice, while Leah Kasch and Shelby Queen both scored once against Boone.
Gallentine struck first in the 41st minute, and after the Toreadors tied it up on a penalty kick following a handball in the box, Leah Kasch put WCHS (1-3) in front to stay of an assist from Gallentine.
Clinging to the 2-1 lead, the Lynx received some insurance in the form of the first career goal by Shelby Queen in the 54th of the 60-minute match. She took the ball at midfield, beat the defense down the field and ripped a shot past the goalkeeper from the left side.
Isabella Dubon pulled Boone (0-3) back to within one goal in the 55th minute, but Gallentine finished it off on an assist by Queen.
In the Lynx opener, Kuemper put up a pair of first-half goals by Kenya Trausch and Courtney Schenkelberg, and then added a second-half goal by Kora Thomsen.
WCHS will return to the pitch on Tuesday for a road match against Garner-Hayfield/Ventura at 5:30 p.m.
