Lammers leads Hawks to sixth at B-F tourney
ALTOONA — An inexperienced South Hamilton boys’ golf team continued to learn on the job here Monday afternoon at the Bondurant-Farrar Invite.
The Hawks fired a 383 at Terrace Hills Golf Course and placed sixth in the seven-team field.
“I think they’re all improving,” Steve Butler, South Hamilton’s first-year head coach, said of the development of his players. “We need to tweak things here and there, but I think they’ll be right in there later on (in the season).”
Nevada posted a 312 and rolled to the team title by 26 strokes over runner-up Prairie City-Monroe (338). Gilbert was third with a 352.
Nevada’s Tyler Sansgaard blistered the par-71 layout with a 3-under 68 to win the individual title by 11 shots over Andrew Van Ryswyk (79) of PCM.
Trevor Lammers led South Hamilton with an 83 and Adam Titus, a first-year player, was next in line with a 90. Wyatt Heins (92) and Teagan Risetter (118) also factored into the team score.
