WEBSTER CITY — Recent Webster City High School graduate Halle Mason is a few weeks away from her dream journey.

The fact that she’ll get to play volleyball on the trip only adds to her excitement.

Mason will be headed to Brisbane, Australia, later this month, as she’ll be a member of the Down Under Sports USA volleyball team that will compete in a pair of tournaments from July 16-26. Along the way she’ll get the chance to experience the culture and see the sights.

Not a bad way to spend the summer.

“I’ve been really excited about it,” Mason said. “Ever since high school sports have ended, I’ve been missing it a lot. So it’s really cool that I get to play sports and I’ve always wanted to go to Australia.”

Team USA will compete in an indoor tournament and will get the chance to play on the beach. Mason says she’s been preparing to step back onto the court by working out with friends.

“I’ve been getting together with a couple of friends and they’ve been helping me,” Mason said. “I’m actually excited for (the beach tournament) because it’s different and I love the beach.”

To help with the cost of the trip, Mason is currently selling Nu Skin AP-24 whitening toothpaste for $20 per tube with all profits going towards expenses. She also said she’s done house work for individuals looking to help her towards her goal, and donations are always welcome.

To purchase toothpaste, or to donate to Mason’s expenditures, you can contact her at 515-297-0540, or her mom, Angie Mason, at 515-297-0334.

Mason was a two-year starter on the volleyball court for Webster City, as she helped the Lynx win 25 matches during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. She concluded her career with 433 digs and 197 kills.

As a senior, Mason led the team in digs with 290, the 10th most in a single season for the Lynx over the past decade.
