No. 14 Hawks sweep PCM, Wintermote inches within 37 kills of 1,000 for her career

JEWELL – No. 14-ranked (Class 2A) South Hamilton continued to roll on the volleyball court here last night, as the Hawks disposed of Heart of Iowa Conference rival Prairie City-Monroe in three quick sets.

Behind 14 service aces and another dominant effort from outside hitter Ady Wintermote, South Hamilton (18-3, 4-2 HOIC) claimed the match 25-9, 25-15, 25-20.

Wintermote, the 2A leader in kills per set, blasted 18 to increase her career total to 963 kills. She will have a realistic shot at becoming the first player in the history of the South Hamilton program to reach the milestone on Saturday when the Hawks will play a minimum of four matches at the Hampton-Dumont Invitational.

Alissa Moss distributed 19 assists and laced a team-high four aces. Younger sister Anna Moss smacked three aces, came up with seven digs and lashed three kills after she turned in her libero jersey prior to the start of the third set.

Taylor Volkmann added three aces and eight assists. Taylor Ratzke blasted four kills and led the team in blocks with three. Lily Skartvedt chipped in three kills, five digs and a service ace.
