WEBSTER CITY – Following a highly successful season on the softball diamond, South Hamilton’s Ady Wintermote continued to pile up the postseason awards late last week.

The Hawks leading hitter and ace in the pitching circle was named to the Class 2A all-district squad in the Northeast District, and also received honorable mention all-state accolades from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

The statewide awards come after she was surprisingly left off the top two teams in the Heart of Iowa Conference. Wintermote was placed on the honorable mention list by league coaches.

In the circle, Wintermote put together a 12-8 record for the Hawks, who finished the season at 16-17 after making a run to the regional semifinal round. Wintermote finished with a 2.69 earned run average in 125 innings of work; she struck out 51 batters.

Her biggest strength for the team came with the bat in her hands. She led South Hamilton in batting average (.406) and doubles (10), and was second in slugging percentage (.656), on base percentage (.436), hits (39), triples (1) and home runs (4). She finished third on the team in runs scored (22) and runs batted in (20).
