Swon, Ferrell place 32nd at co-ed state golf tourney
WEBSTER CITY – Seniors Shannon Swon and John Ferrell represented Webster City at the Class 2A co-ed state golf tournament, held once again at Briggs Woods Golf Course, on Tuesday.
The Lynx duo posted a 90 in the alternate shot format to place 32nd in the large-school field. Waukee’s Paige Seiser and Parker Howe fired a 1-under-par 71 to take the top honors, a stroke ahead of teammates Cheyenne Becker and Tripp Kenney and the West Des Moines Dowling team of Anne Gradoville and John Stroud.
The 1A co-ed state meet was held at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone. Clear Lake’s Emily Snelling and Dane Waldron torched the field with a 68 – 10 strokes clear of runners-up Courtney Snyder and Mitchell Ludwig of Carroll Kuemper.
Snelling and Waldron both won individual 3A titles at their respective state meets this spring.
