SWENSON FIFTH FOR SH GIRLS: Carly Swenson was one of just five golfers to break 100 in the blustery conditions at Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center on Tuesday, as she led South Hamilton to a fourth-place finish at the West Marshall Invitational.

Swenson’s 99 placed her fifth in the field. Grundy Center’s Josie McMartin was the medalist with an 83 and the Spartans claimed the team crown with a 394.

Nevada (423) and its leader Claire Ausman (91) were both second.

Sidney Alsager recorded a 107 for the Hawks. Amanda Austin (118) and Jasmine Hyland (119) completed the scoring for the Hawks, who tallied a 443.

SH BOYS SECOND: The South Hamilton boys’ golf team shot a 177 and finished second in a triangular meet against Roland-Story and West Marshall on Tuesday at River Bend Golf Course in Story City.

Hawks’ No. 1 player Nathan Sogard was the runner-up medalist with a 42. Colton Coy was on his heels with a 43, Jared Ullestad added a 45, and Landon Quam closed out the scoring with a 47.

Roland-Story’s Grant Walline fired a 38 to secure the medalist honor.
