Gilbert piles up four goals again, Lynx easily fly by Raiders

MAXWELL – Molly Gilbert unleashed her second consecutive four-goal outing, as she led the Webster City girls’ soccer team back to .500 on the season with a 5-0 rout of Collins-Maxwell-Baxter yesterday.

Gilbert upped her season goals total to 13; she had three in the second half to help the Lynx (3-3) coast to the win.

WCHS head coach Paul Baedke was particularly pleased to see his team score early in each half.

“In year’s past we’ve struggled in those first five minutes, so that was a nice little turnaround,” he said.

Sarah Vogelbacher added a goal. She also assisted on two of Gilbert’s scores.

Julia Bernard picked up the assist on the first goal of the match.

Lynx goalkeeper Maia Jaycox came up with 19 saves.

WCHS will host Iowa Falls-Alden today at 5:30.
