Trojets let game slip away late

MESKWAKI SETTLEMENT – The Northeast Hamilton girls’ basketball team dropped its guard in the fourth quarter here Tuesday night and the result was another narrow miss in the Iowa Star Conference.

Ahead 22-20 heading into the final period, the Trojets (3-10, 3-10 ISC) were outscored 21-10 by Meskwaki Settlement, as the Warriors (4-8, 4-7 ISC) prevailed, 41-32.

Cassidy Nerland netted 12 points in the loss, while teammates Devyn VanKooten and Lillian Chamness added eight and six, respectively.

Shyannon Wolf (15 points) and Grace Tahahwah (14) did the majority of scoring for Meskwaki Settlement. The Warriors owned an 11-2 scoring advantage at the free throw line.
