Hetland, Rader and Peters all 2-0

ALLEMAN – South Hamilton put just eight varsity wrestlers on the mat here last night in dual-meet losses to Heart of Iowa Conference rivals Greene County and North Polk.

The Rams won the opening five weights, four by way of forfeits, and never trailed in a 40-19 win over the Hawks.

South Hamilton (4-12, 2-6 HOIC) led North Polk for a majority of the final dual, but once again forfeits caught up to the visitors. The Comets scored the final 24 points, 18 of them free, to rally for a 39-32 victory.

Keaton Hetland (113 pounds), JD Rader (138) and Luke Peters (160) all picked up two victories. Brian Greenfield (138) and Noah Lutter (170) claimed a pin; Charlie Reiter (126) and Mateo Balderas (152) secured forfeit victories.

Hetland stuck Greene County’s Kane Borgeson in just 41 seconds and then sweated out six minutes to top North Polk’s Chase Erickson, 9-3.

Rader, rated No. 5 (Class 1A) at 132 in the latest individual rankings, fought off the Rams’ Jordan Challen, 3-1, and then cruised by the Comets’ Cody Meiners by technical fall, 19-4.

A forfeit winner against North Polk, Peters opened his night by dismantling Greene County’s Isaiah Yoder, 15-2.
