Lynx can’t stop Go-Hawks

WAVERLY — The season came to an end for the Webster City baseball team here last Friday night, as the Lynx dropped a 9-2 decision to Waverly-Shell Rock.

The Go-Hawks advanced in the Class 3A, Substate 3 bracket to face Boone on Monday, as Algona and Humboldt collide in the other semifinal. The winners of those games play each other for a spot in the state tournament.

For Webster City, they end the season 12-17 overall and lose just one senior in Brady Asklund. He had a hit while recording two strikeouts on the mound.

Gavin Griffith drove in a pair for the Lynx with a double, as those were the only hits allowed by Waverly-Shell Rock pitchers Jack Wedemeier and Gehrig Tibbits, who combined to record 13 strikeouts.

Alex Staley stole a base after reaching on a walk, Matthew Tesdahl drew two walks and both Braylon Dyvig and Kaleb Hansen got on base with walks. Hansen was also hit by a pitch in the game.
