February fun

Off the shelf

Kendall Young Library is having a ton of awesome programs during the month of February. I just want to make sure you all know about them. I have listed a few below. We also have them listed on all our social media, at the library, and on our website:

Do you like board games? How about life size board games? What about food? You can get all of these things at Kendall Young Library’s Tenth Annual Family Game Night. It is on Friday, Feb. 16 from 5:30-8:00p.m. This is a great event for the whole family. And it is free of charge.

At Family Game Night, there will be life sized games of Candyland, Jenga, Connect-4, and more. There will also be regular board games and card games of all kinds. You can bring your own favorite board games and share the fun with others. We will also be serving taco bags and cookies. Bring your families for a fun night at the library. We can’t wait.

Don’t forget that February is our Winter Reading Month for ALL ages. The theme this year is There’s SNOW Better Time To Read. Children, Teens, and Adults can do activities and be eligible for some awesome prizes. We have activities to do such as book reviews, coloring contests, reading logs, and more. This is a way to do something out of the box, and possibly find some new books or activities that you like! Reading can be so much fun, and who doesn’t want to win fun prizes? We have prizes such as an Amazon gift card for the adults, a Bloxels game for the teens where they can make and play their own video game on a tablet or computer, and a Bluetooth Speaker that changes color. Come to the library Checkout, Reference, or Children’s Desk to check out this fun program and learn more.

We are having a Cookie Decorating program just in time for Valentine’s Day to get your sugar fix in. You will be able to decorate sweet Valentine’s Day cookies with buttercream icing and sprinkles. It will be in the library meeting room at 6:30p.m. on Feb. 13.

On Feb. 13 at Teen Lounge from 3:30-5:30 p.m., we are hoping to make Valentine’s for the local care center that will be delivered to them on Valentine’s Day to make them smile. We will also be having a Teen Valentine’s Day Party on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at Teen Lounge from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tweens and teens are all welcome from 6th-12th grade. We will be playing games, eating Valentine’s Day treats, and making crafts. I hope to see lots of teens there.

Our family movie event is on Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. We will be showing the movie Wonder. This is a free event for the whole family and a great movie that everyone will love. Please come watch it with us and enjoy family time and popcorn.

We can’t wait to see you for all of our February fun activities.
