This week at the capitol

The conclusion of week nine ends our second funnel for the session. While committee work is winding down we are continuing to stay busy in other areas of the legislature.

Human Resources

Monday morning I joined my colleagues from the Human Resources committee on a legislative trip to Ankeny to visit On With Life, a leader in brain injury rehabilitation. During our visit we were guided by Executive Director Julie Dixon as we toured their facilities, observed therapies, and met with clients.

During our tour and meeting with various individuals it was made very clear the world class operation that On With Life is operating. From the beginning their mission was centered on support for people that had limited access to the care necessary for dealing with a brain injury.

Since their opening in 1991, they have served more than 1,500 individuals and continued to expand facilities to meet higher demands and needs. Along with developing their facilities, OWL has invested in their staff to create one of the most qualified groups of care providers for brain injury in the world.

As I visit and meet individuals throughout the state, I am continually impressed with the amount of passion that Iowans focus into profession to make Iowa a continued leader in many industries.

Forum Saturday

Rep. Bacon and Sen. Jerry Behn will be part of a Legislative forum Saturday in Webster City at City Hall beginning at 10:30 a.m.
