Springtime at the Chamber

During that cold snap called winter, we’ve been busy planning. Sunday the 30th of March we’re having an open house for all home based businesses in the area at inTANDEM Workspace at 501 Bank Street. Join us at 1 pm and see how the Chamber can help make your business grow. We’re also starting the Ag Committee back up. Come to Hy-Vee on April 8 at 8 a.m. for an open meeting. Everyone who works in the Ag industry is invited to attend – farmers, businesses, chamber member and non-chamber members. Help us build an ag committee that is strong and serves the community well.

Join us April 10 for the Stein Heating and Cooling Open House from 7 to 9 am. See the new facility located across from Grid Iron and enjoy coffee and a light snack. Let’s properly welcome a new business in town.

New Chamber members this month so far are: TiDe Creations, HERO, Community and Family Resources, Mendenhall Companies, and SOS Vintage.

Money Smart Week kicks off April 7 with an early event March 3 at the Extension Office – Raising Money Smart Kids. April 7 learn about the Sandwich Generation at 2nd Street Emporium. April 8 The Grid Iron hosts Investing and Wealth Building Strategies. April 9 is How to Wow: Tips for Entrepreneurs. April 10 there is a Community Wide Shred Event. Scout Night (kids can earn a badge) is April 8. And Dash for the Cash will be happening all week long around Webster City. All events are free. Keep your eyes out for posters, news releases, radio broadcasts and social media reporting with more details, or stop by our office.

Just a heads up for May: St. Thomas After Hours is May 2, Keep Iowa Beautiful Statewide Conference is here May 7, and JunqueFest at Wilson Brewer Park is May 23 to 25.

We’d also like to thank our intern, Becky Pingel, who came to us from Iowa Central Community College. She’s been a great help and has organized our storage room, delivered many table tents, answered the phones, typed lots of documents and been an asset to our office. We’ll miss her, and whoever hires her will be quite happy we’re sure.
