Happy Halloween, welcome winter

Another month has come and gone and we find ourselves excited for the events past, present and future at the Chamber.

Ladies Night Out, the town was filled with women from as far away as Florida shopping, eating and playing in town. Participating businesses were pleased with the results and it’s always good to see people out and about enjoying Webster City.

Leah Mullholland is a new addition to the Chamber staff and we are pleased to have her accounting experience, pleasant personality and winning ways. Loween Getter, a staple here, has retired and we will miss her greatly. Her happy face and wealth of knowledge has made working here a true joy. We wish Loween much happiness in retirement.

Niki Kumm from 31 Bags, Mike Constant with IowaAntiqueNetwork.com, Jim Reed with Marco and Paula Schutt from Avon have joined the Chamber in October. We are also beginning our membership drive in November and we hope to add many new members and retain all the old ones. Marlie’s Garage hosted an open house and ribbon cutting, All Cultures Equal had a Harvest Celebration and the Downtown Design Project kicked off in October.

Nov. 4, we welcome Becky McCray, author of Small Town Rules, to Whoop-ti-Doo’s at 9 a.m. for a Business Brainstorming Session. Nov. 6 Jody Halsted from Ankeny will come and present about the places she’s been in Ireland and this event is open to the public. Join us at 501 Bank St at 5:30 pm. We will travel to Ames Nov. 13 to see what the Downtown Design Project students have planned for the participating businesses. Wacky Wednesday is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 27 and we encourage you to kick off your holiday shopping right here in town. Nov. 30 is Small Business Saturday and a great time to support the businesses locally who give so much back to our community.

The Winter Wonderland Committee is gearing up for many activities in the area in November and December. Visit the events page at www.visitwebstercityiowa.com to keep up to date on all those events. Mark your calendar for Guys Night Out on Dec. 13, Lighted Drive from Dec. 11 to 25 out at Briggs Woods Campgrounds and Jane Young House Tour is on Dec. 14. These are just a few of the highlights of Winter Wonderland.

Stay warm – call us if you want to stop by for a visit and we will put a pot of coffee on.
