June and July are jumpin’ in WC

The Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce welcomes Iowa Home Care, Access Systems, Angel Touch Massage, Walker Insurance, Palmer and Cheryl Schneider, and Kathleen Swon as new member.

June 6, we held the first Quarterly Coffee at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds in the New Show Arena. There were 124 people in attendance and the hour flew by. It was a good networking event and the new arena is simply lovely.

The Chamber is working with Iowa State University to create The Tour 2.0 and we will have more information sometime in August on how that will look. We promise it will be even more exciting. We are also working on an incubator project with three local businesses and will have more news available soon.

The first Summer Nights event was held June 14 and was a smashing success. Because of rain, it was moved to Fuller Hall. People came from far and wide and supported Webster City Federal as they raised funds for Relay for Life, enjoyed live music by Russell Lachney which was sponsored by K and H Construction, visited many vendors and watched “The Odd Life of Timothy Green” in the Sampson Room.

We’ve put together the Perfect Staycation for the July 5 Summer Nights. Live Music will be by Adam Lee and sponsored by First State Bank. The movie will be “Yankee Doodle Dandy” and food will be sold by Webster City Custom Meats to support the Boy Scouts. A comfort zone sponsored by Webster City Federal will be set up for you to rest your feet, eat some meat and enjoy the music. The Library, Wilson Brewer Park Complex, Paparazzi, Scentsy, Future of Health Massage, Wine Shop at Home, Tastefully Simple and Mary Kay will be set up for you to browse their wares. Stop by Critter Nation and take a look at the race cars on display out front. The kids can come play on a real fire truck from 6 to 7 pm. A Hula Hoop contest and an Ice Cream Eating contest are in the works. The Farmer’s Market, Doodle Bugs and a few cars from the Webster City Cruisers will be out as well. Many stores are open late and have specials, too. The Dance Connection will perform a show as will the Singing Nuns from “Nunset Boulevard.” All of this takes place on Second Street between Willson and Des Moines. Big fun for all.

Our next How to Wow is July 10 at 11:30 am and will feature Michael Libbie teaching about Online Marketing. Just call the Chamber at 832-2564 to register.

July 27 is the Crazy Day and we look forward to art, cars and crazy sales downtown. This year our Chamber Golf Open will be Wine on Nine and held at Briggs Woods on Aug. 2. The event is open to everyone and it promises to be a lot of fun. Mark your calendar for Sept. 11. RV TV will be in town all day. The rivalry between Iowa and Iowa State is always heated, and Webster City will be featured on WHO- TV that day.

It’s a great summer in Webster City hope to see you soon.
