Thankful for coverage

Dear Editor: Greetings! First I wish to commend the Freeman Journal and its staff for receiving so many journalism awards. Well deserved. Second, I wish to thank the editor or staff person for including my receiving the DAR Award in the teaching of American History at Webster City Middle School 25 years ago. To the editor: Award winners: This is not a surprise to me. This outstanding newspaper has reached to the top ring because of excellence caused by contributors in the most difficult field today. Support Congregate Meals

Letter to the editor, The people of Webster City may not know there is a golden road that leads to 604 Prospect Street, the home of Webster City Congregate meal site. Congregate meals is very close to my heart. My mother, Violet and my husband, Marlin, went to Congregate meals until they passed away. They not only got delicious meals, but they also enjoy the camaraderie. My husband, Marlin, volunteered at Congregate Meals for 23 years. To the editor, Twas the night before Christmas when all through the White House there arose such a clatter. Twas being torn down, but to Trump it didn’t matter. Concerned about funding public schools

To the editor, Now is the time to urge Iowa Senators and Representatives to end or cap the budget for Educational School Aid (ESA) as the Iowa Legislature begins its 91st session. ESAs, if you don’t recall, are coupons provided by Iowa taxpayers to parents of K-12 school students in private schools. ESAs were unpopular across the political spectrum when the law was enacted in 2022-2023 but the program was enacted anyway. Webster City Community Schools. Public funds should not fund private schools

To the editor: I attended the Webster City Community School Board Candidate Forum on October 27 and was very impressed with the quality, sincerity, passion and commitment of each of the candidates. As the former Hamilton County Treasurer of 26 years and a 12-year past member of the school board, I feel I am in a unique position to be equally passionate concerning the state of Iowa’s economy and Iowa schools — public tax dollars should only be spent on public schools.
