Questions Webster City ordinances as Home Owners Association
Letter to the editor:
I am sure that when I bought my property that Richard D. Gregory was the only name on the title and that pays the taxes and the bank. I was not informed that Webster City had a Home Owners Association. I thought I could use the property for hobbies, storing wood for my fireplace and parking trailers for that purpose.
Suddenly administrators and councilmen think that they and their anonymous big nose friend should decide what happens on a property that they don’t own. If I park a trailer on my land whether it’s grass, gravel, cement or asphalt, if it kills the grass, it’s my grass. Going around threatening to fine people and making codes like this is nothing but abuse of power and people who do not have enough guts to show their name on a complaint should mind their own business.
I put a small dog pen outside the back door of my renters apartment and I was told it was restricting access to the apartment. Even though it has a 40-inch gate and the door to the house is only 36 inches. Should treat BUSHES and GATE on Second Street with the same rules as there is NO DIFFERENCE. Fire code of 4-foot height. In these trying times, we should think of ways to save money. Sending law enforcement out to enforce what some people might think frivolous ordinances is a waste. A waste of time and money (gas, tires, oil and maintenance.)
Haven’t we seen enough ABUSE of power? We hire people to help, not harass us. We pay their wages so they work for us and they should remember that. Brian Stroner is not the problem. Just a man in the middle. Treat him with respect. He’s doing a great job for what he is dealing with.
