Webster County sheriff urges support for Scot Ely in school board election

To the editor:

I am writing to express my full support for Scot Ely as the next member of the Webster City School Board.

I have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Ely over the past 20 years in various areas of law enforcement and training initiatives. Throughout that time, I have come to know him as a man of integrity, high moral character, and deep commitment to the community of Webster City — all qualities that make him an outstanding candidate for the school board.

Mr. Ely has served the Webster City community as a police officer and currently continues that service as an agent with the (Iowa) Division of Criminal Investigation. In addition to his law enforcement duties, he has provided valuable training to local first responders and across the country as an adjunct instructor for the nationally recognized Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center, based in San Marcos, Texas. He has also helped train hundreds of citizens on how to be safe and responsible when obtaining a weapon permit.

Scot Ely is a dedicated professional, a committed father, and a true friend. His connection to the community, leadership experience, and passion for public service make him an ideal choice to help lead the Webster City School District into the future.

While I do not reside in Webster City, if I did, casting my vote for Scot Ely would be an easy decision. I am confident he will bring thoughtful, principled leadership to the school board and continue to move the district in a positive direction.
