The way to change the world is by speaking up through votes

To the Editor:

Do you like the world today? Are you worried about America? Who do you blame, the politicians? And who voted those politicians in?

I want you to look in the mirror and ask if you’ve done enough. In the 2022 midterm election the voting rate was 46%, less than half. Do you encourage others to vote?

A fact check of the voting rate of 50 countries showed the U.S. came in 31st. Almost 250 years ago our forefathers fought a war against a king who taxed them but didn’t listen to their concerns. If you think you are too small to make a difference, you haven’t spent a night with a mosquito.

Start bugging people, because in a year will be the most important election since our forefathers sacrificed for us. You will be voting for a democracy or a dictator.

One political party has become a cult. A cult of personality. A personality that lies, cheats, has been convicted of fraud and idolizes dictators.

Have you ever lived under a dictator? One person makes all the decisions and if you protest you’re done. You had to see what happened in Russia. In Iowa, one party wants to restrict your freedoms. It wants to restrict voting, take away a woman’s choice in healthcare, take money from public schools, and take away your right to read (Ed.: certain) books. Didn’t Hitler ban books?

Don’t be apathetic, wake up and show up to vote for freedom and democracy.

P.S. Polling shows 80% of Americans want more and better gun laws. But it’s not what you say, it’s what you do. Until you vote some people out. Then they will finally listen to voters.
