To the Editor:

The adage repeat a lie often enough and it will become the truth is an unscrupulous method being used in this year’s election by the Republican Party. Joe Biden is NOT a socialist as they wish voters to believe. Democrats do NOT raise taxes on low and mid-range earners. Former Vice President Biden has been clear he will only raise taxes on those earning more than $400,000 a year.

When I hear people say they will vote for Donald Trump because of the economy, I am perplexed. Do they like over 20 million people receiving unemployment benefits, almost 16,000 restaurants have closed permanently, that the wealthiest 1% of Americans received 73% of the tax cuts the Republicans tout, an additional $2 trillion was added to the national debt due to these tax cuts, that these tax cuts will expire for individuals in 2026, that the president submitted in his budget to Congress cuts to Social Security, that the stock market is only doing well right now because the Federal Reserve is propping it up so it did not crash due to the pandemic, and that members of the president’s economic team tipped off the president’s Wall Street donors in Feb. of the likelihood of the pandemic having severe negative effects on the markets while telling the American people Covid 19 was nothing to worry about?

For those few who have enriched themselves during this administration who justify actions such as tearing children and babies from their parents arms, locking them in cages and now cannot find the parents of 545 children, and over 20,000 documented lies told by the president in the last 3 years 9 months, please read the book of Mark Chapter 10, Verse 25 from The Bible.

A man who is not well known outside of Washington D.C. is Grover Norquist, a wealthy political activist. 95% of all Republican members of Congress have signed a pledge to him under the threat he will find another candidate to run against him/her in the next primary. Joni Ernst has signed his pledge, so he is able to manipulate her votes to his whim. Where is her written pledge to Iowans?
