Appreciates performance of ‘Seussical the Musical’

Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

Taking a line from “Seussical the Musical,”“How Lucky You Are,” Webster City people, to have the Webster City Community Theatre in your midst. Young people and not so young people have just finished the last performance of a well-received musical play, delighting audiences of the same mix. That was one of the many positives, featuring different generations of performers.

Some young actors had their first whiff of grease paint and hopefully caught the performance bug. Other tried and true veterans were there to please audiences and to help support the younger ones.

The band was wonderful. We could hear it but it never did overpower the stage voices. Their perfect pitch and musical cues were appreciated by performers and the audiences.

Thank you to Wil Groves, the director of the musical, and to Dr. Seuss who is the author of the delightful books on which the musical is based. The music is by Stephen Flaherty and the lyrics by Lynn Arends.
