Recent book sale raises $2,155 for KYL

To the Editor:

The recent Kendall Young Library fall book sale was again a huge success. A big thank you to all who brought books, helped with the set up, purchased books or assisted with clean-up. We could not do it without everyone’s willingness to help. There were 93 volunteers who helped in some way, for a total of 275.5 hours of work. This includes the sorting that takes place year round as well as setting up the tables Tuesday night, and setting out all the books Wednesday prior to the start of the sale. The total amount made on the sale this fall was $2,155.

A special thank you to Sue Anderson for lining up all the volunteers during the sale, Jessica Schultz and the members of the Faith Methodist youth group and Tracy Queen and her soccer kids. Their help was instrumental in our speedy cleanup effort Saturday. The proceeds from the sale help provide continuing support for the library, such as computers and programs in the children’s area, Books for Babies program, for babies born at Van Diest Medical Center, and programs that the library offers throughout the year, just to name a few things.

Start saving books for the next sale. On that note, we accept books year round, but cannot take books that are water damaged, ripped or moldy. So use your discretion in your donations.
