A proud moment for Webster City

Tomorrow night, the Webster City Lynx will face the Pella Dutch in the UNI-Dome for the 3A state title.

What a tremendous accomplishment for these  young men. We know that they will give 110 percent as they shoot for the stars in the contest Thursday night.

But it takes more than just determination to get to this level of competition. It takes commitment, drive and dedication to a program. It takes strong leadership and coaches devoted to helping these student athletes be the very best they can be on and off the field. Our Lynx athletes are truly great ambassadors for the school and our community.

We offer a shout out to all of the parents, grandparents and other community members who have supported the program and who continue to fill the stands wearing their purple and gold gear, cheering on the Mighty Lynx.

We also offer a shout out to the Daily Freeman-Journal’s Troy Banning who will accept a prestigious state honor during half-time of Thursday’s game. We offer up a cheer to him and hope those of you attending the game at the UNI-Dome will do the same. How special that the award comes on the same night that the home team is playing for the state title.

Thursday is your day, Lynxmen. Enjoy your time in the spotlight and we pray that you will bring home the championship trophy. But no matter how the game turns out, your community is proud of you and your coaches. We’re proud of your sportsmanship and the heart you put into each game.
