Beverly Anderson

Beverly Ann (Heiken) Anderson, daughter of Clarence and Katherine (Knight) Heiken, was born January 16, 1940, on the home farm in Audubon County, Iowa. She graduated from Audubon High School in 1958.

After graduation, Bev moved to Des Moines with her sister Donna. She worked in the insurance industry, and the sisters enjoyed city life, attending the theater and shopping. While there, Bev met her future husband.

Bev married John "Jack" Anderson on May 21, 1960, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Webster City. They settled on his parents' farm in Woolstock, where they raised eight children who were a source of deep pride to Bev.

In addition to raising her family, Bev worked as a nurse's aide, a bookkeeper at Brenton Bank, an administrative assistant for Wright County Public Health, and at Casey's. She also helped John with Jay-Dee Manufacturing. Bev later studied theology at Creighton University to support her service as Director of Religious Education and CCD teacher.

Bev treasured time with her family and enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, reading and, for most of her life, quilting.

The last 25 years she has attended many quilting retreats and outings with her sisters.

Bev was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Bev passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Northridge Village in Ames at age 86. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, on October 27, 2005; daughters Cecelia and Rachel; siblings Jerold Heiken (Nadine), Donna Sacco (Charles), Loretta Petersen (Gerald), and Dennis Heiken; brother-in-law, Joseph Anderson (Mildred) and sister-in-law, Jane Schroder (Charles).
