LaVerne Bjustrom

LaVerne Leon Bjustrom, age 90, of Webster City passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Foster Funeral & Cremation Center with visitation one hour prior to service.

LaVerne grew up on a farm south of Stanhope and graduated from Stanhope High School in 1954. He worked for the Stanhope Coop/Lumber Yard for 1 year before enlisting in the army in 1955. He served in the United States and Korea for 2 years. LaVerne came home to work at the Stanhope Coop/ Lumber Yard until he started farming in 1959.

LaVerne married Janice Firnhaber in August of 1959 and lived on the farm where they had 3 children. He started selling grain bins in 1969 and opened his first office in Webster City in 1971. In 1983, they moved to an acreage south of Webster City. Laverne eventually moved to a larger location for his business and owned and operated the business until 1995 when he sold it to his sons Mark and Kurt. LaVerne and Janice moved to town in early August of this year and were settled in.

LaVerne loved a joke, a good story, golfing, fishing and bossing people around! He loved his family, 3 grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Janice, children: Mark Bjustrom, Kurt Bjustrom/Stacie, Shelli Hassebrock/Duane and 3 grandchildren: Kyli, Kane and Koby.
