Howard Lowell Klaver was born March 10, 1939, on his parents' farm in Kamrar, Iowa, being the youngest of 4 children to George and Rickie Klaver. He started school in a one-room school house, then moved on to the school in Kamrar, enjoying playing basketball and spending time working on the farm. One of his favorite purchases was his brand new 1959 Ford Skyliner Hard-top Retractable car that is still moving along today with the help of his nephew and friend, Larry Golden. He met Bonita (Bonnie) Becker at the Webster City A&W where she was a car hop and they never looked back.
He and Bonita traveled to Cheyenne, WY, with his brother and her sisters to get married on Sept. 1, 1962. When they got married, they took over the farm from his mom and dad as well as him being a member of the air national guard. The farm, with hogs, cattle, and farming lots of corn and soybeans, was his pride and livelihood. Their first daughter, Holly, was born 5 years later and then Jami, two years after that. They enjoyed traveling the country and supporting the girls in all of their sports and other activities. He never missed a game or track meet and would make up time in the fields in the middle of the night if necessary.
After the girls left home, Howard and Bonnie bought an RV and started traveling for long weekends and over the winters. They spent time in Florida, Arizona, and then settled in Pharr, TX, after finding their home away from home there because of the friends they met there. They also were members of the Beaver RV Club and traveled with friends all over the US and Canada, seeing and experiencing everything they could. There were several trips to Montana to see Jami and the grandkids as well. His cattle were a constant hobby and joy and Howard also loved showing his 59 Ford in different car shows and going on car club rides. They even ventured out for short cruise trips in recent years.
In 2016, after spending 77 years in the home he was born in, they decided to make a move a little further south to get away from the Iowa winters. Oklahoma became their home as it was closer to Texas and Holly and Antonio and their family. They found a new church home at Waterloo Road Baptist Church and made great friends in their Sunday School Group, found car shows and continued to travel in the RV.
No matter where he was, Howard found friends to have coffee with in the mornings and had regular breakfast dates with family and friends. Howard and Bonnie were almost always together -- they played cards and other games with friends, went to events for the grandkids, got to see the world, and got to enjoy great-grandkids.
Howard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bonita Klaver. Daughters Holly Aparicio (OK) and Jami Hansing (MT). Grandchildren Emily (Adam) Jacob, Nicole Aparicio, Kelsie Aparicio, Jade Hansing, Steele Hansing, and great-grandchildren Lucas Jacob and Oliver Jacob, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George P and Rickie Klaver, brother Claude Klaver, and sisters Clarice Golden and Helen Main, and son-in-law Antonio Aparicio and other family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Howard's name to donate to Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch at Shilohranch.org or Community Church of Kamrar youth fund.
The service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Waterloo Baptist Church, 3100 E. Waterloo Road, Edmond, OK 73-34.
