Lynn Smith

Lynn Elaine Smith, 71, passed away peacefully at Regency Care Center in Norwalk, Iowa.

Lynn was born December 8, 1954, to Dale and Maxine Steuerwald of Stratford, Iowa. She graduated from Stratford High School in 1974 and later graduated as a registered nurse from Iowa Central Community College. Lynn dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked for 18 years at Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City and also worked at the Rolfe Care Center and Stratford Care Center.

Lynn married Jeffrey Smith on April 8, 1989. Together, Lynn and Jeff enjoyed a full and happy life. They loved attending Iowa Hawkeye games, visiting casinos, and camping with family at Blackhawk Lake. They often vacationed with the children in South Dakota at Heart Ranch and enjoyed watching Andy's ballgames and karate matches.

Lynn and Jeff also made it a priority to care for family. After Jeff's father was widowed, they welcomed him into their home for dinner almost every day. Lynn was known for her cheerful nature and her love of nursing, her family, and the people around her. She especially cherished her children, Andy and Jody, and enjoyed living close to her mother, Maxine, in Eagle Grove.

Lynn's family is deeply grateful for the excellent care she received at Regency Care Center in Norwalk throughout her battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Smith; her son, Andy Lowe, and his wife, Valerie; her daughter, Jody, and her husband, Joe Pullen; her sisters, Carol (Don) Kaisand and Donna (Kenny) Sanders; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, and her sister, Brenda.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 12, at the Stratford Community Center from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friends and relatives are welcome to attend and celebrate Lynn's life.
