Joy Echelberger Kapple

Joy Kapple passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at her home in Sigourney.

A Visitation will be held at Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer on Saturday, August 1, from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. A service will begin immediately after followed by internment at White Oak Cemetery, Thornburg, Iowa. Services officiated by Vince Homan.

A second service will be held on Sunday August 2, from 12:00pm-2:00p.m. at the Kamrar community church in Kamrar.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Delta Methodist Church.

Joy Kapple was born August 27, 1955, in Rantoul, Illinois to Robert Leroy and Clysta Feaker Echelberger. She moved to Kamrar, Iowa as an infant and went to elementary school in Kamrar. She graduated in 1973 from Northeast Hamilton high school in Blairsburg, Iowa. Joy was involved in all types of sports and enjoyed spending time with her friends. One very special friend was Shari Grace. She was married in 1974 and to this marriage, the most special children were born, three boys, Daniel, Matthew, Jacob, and finally, the special little girl she had been hoping for, Sarah. Sadly, the marriage ended and Joy remarried David Lee Randle in 1991. After David died of cancer in 2013, Joy met Larry Lee Kapple online and they were married in 2015.

Joy is preceded in death by her father, Robert Leroy Echelberger; late husband, David Randle; sister, Jill Eckardt; Brothers-in-law; Ron Babb, Randy Kapple; her grandparents and many other loved ones.

Joy is survived by her mother, Clysta Feaker Echelberger; husband and best friend, Larry Lee Kapple; four biological children, seven God-given bonus children, nineteen grandchildren and three soon to be great grandchildren; three sisters, Jan (Tony) Neubauer, Jeri Babb and Joni (David) Thornton, Brother-in-law, Terry (Pam) Kapple; sister-in-law, Nancy (Dante) Rebori and many other relatives and friends.
