Denise Miller
Denise Susan Miller, 71, of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Ames, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Orville and Helen Nessa. Denise was the wife of the late Mark Miller who passed away on December 27, 2009. Denise was a graduate of Northeast Hamilton High School in Blairsburg, Iowa. She went on to earn her Associate of Arts degree from DMACC in Boone, Iowa, before later graduating from Millersville University with her BSN. Denise worked in hospitals in Amarillo, Texas; Webster City, Iowa; Ames, Iowa; and Marshalltown, Iowa. Denise was a Registered Nurse at Lancaster General Hospital before her retirement in 2020. Among other areas, she worked as an ICU and Cath Lab nurse and was a member of the Nurses Honor Guard. Denise also attended Calvary Church.
A woman of many interests, Denise lived life to the fullest. She treasured time at the beach, loved cooking for family gatherings, and held a deep affection for her cats. Above all, she anchored her life around her friends, family, and her cherished grandchildren who knew her affectionately as “Nee.” She never missed an opportunity to attend their events and celebrate their achievements.
Surviving are two sons, Tony Miller of Mount Joy and Eric (Jennifer) Miller of Lancaster, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Greg (Shar) Nessa of Carroll, Iowa, Gretchen (James) McGlynn of Webster City, Iowa, and Cheryl (Jim) Sutherland of Des Moines, Iowa.
A funeral service honoring Denise's life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc., in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Silver Spring Cemetery.
