Rita Christensen
Rita Christensen, 93, of Webster City died Friday, May 8, 2026 at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2026 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with caring for Rita and her family.
Rita Ann McCann, daughter of EJ and Merie (Lersch) McCann, was born September 25, 1932 in Burlington, Iowa. She graduated from St. Paul’s Catholic School in 1950. Rita was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Christensen on September 27, 1952 in Burlington. The couple moved to Webster City in 1958. Rita attended ICCC and earned an AA degree while working in the 80’s. She held numerous occupations throughout her life – homemaker, mother, babysitter, accounting and payroll until her final position as a computer help desk clerk at Electrolux. Rita was a long-time member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Kenneth; daughter, Mary Fortune; son, Michael L. Christensen; daughters-in-law, Jolene M. Christensen and Jolene Christensen; special friend of the family, Mark O’ Malley all of Webster City; grandchildren, Peter (Elaina) Odegaard, Erin Mitchell, Blake (Katie) Christensen, Alex (Tony) Alberico; seven great-grandchildren with another due in August.
Rita was preceded in death by her sons; Mark, Thomas and Stephen Christensen; sons in-law, Jim Fortune and Michael Odegaard; her parents; brother, Paul McCann and sisters, Mary Crowley and Barb Kriebel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Thomas Aquinas School, 624 Dubuque St., Webster City, IA 50595. Cards may be sent to Ken Christensen, 2501 Des Moines St. Crestview Apt. # 207, Webster City, IA 50595.
