Services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 1:30 PM at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 92 Des Moines Street in Webster City. Military honors to be conducted by the American Legion Post 191 and United States Navy. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. The third son of six children, Glenn was born at home on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1923, to Lester Glenn and Helen (Rule) Cue of Dow City. The 1941 high school graduate was active in vocal music, band/ orchestra, basketball, and baseball. Glenn’s coach instructed him to bat left-handed when facing less successful teams.

Joining the U.S. Navy during World War II, Glenn graduated from the University of Chicago radio school with a perfect copy of fox schedule code messages of 1,000 characters. Stationed primarily in the Pacific Theater, his amphibious mobile communications unit set up advanced installations prior to island invasion. Glenn was badly burned on the island of Saipan. He later viewed the white-ordered planes flying overhead to sign the peace agreement. Glenn proudly participated in the first Brushy Creek area Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

Classmate Marie Simons and Glenn were married December 4, 1943. Following his honorable discharge the couple welcomed children Dennis Glenn, David, and Julie. Together the pair enjoyed golf, church choir, square dancing, bowling, and spirited card games. Always active, Glenn continued playing every position in adult baseball and softball leagues into his 80’s. For decades he umpired fast pitch softball and Lynx varsity baseball and softball. At their winter home, Glenn was employed many seasons by the Detroit Tigers organization.

Glenn retired from the Illinois Central Railroad in 1983, after 36 years as an agent telegraph operator in Saint Ansgar, Aurelia, and Webster City where he lived for 60 years. His retirement left Webster City without an agent for the first time since the railroad came to town in 1869. The couple became snowbirds for 30 years; and celebrated 77 devoted anniversaries before Maries passing.

A lifelong member of the Methodist church, Glenn also belonged to American Legion post 191 and Kiwanis. Special thanks to Asbury Care Team members.

He enjoyed grandchildren’s activities, music, reading, visitors, westerns, shooting pool, assisting Eagle Scout candidates, and his Grandmother Rules’ custard pie. Glenn followed Iowa Hawkeye sports diligently.

Glenn possessed a most kind and generous spirit combined with a sharp sense of wit. A soft-spoken gentleman, his ready smile projected his warm demeanor and caring attitude. Glenn will be greatly missed by his loving family and numerous friends in the United States and Canada. Truly a member of America's Greatest Generation.
