Yvonne Klaver

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2026, at Holy Spirit Church — St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Patrick Behm. Music will be by Jane Heithoff and Kathleen Macke. Lector for the Funeral Mass will be Deb Potthoff. Gift bearers will be Yvonne’s grandchildren. Eucharistic Minister will be Winnie Potthoff. Casket bearers will be Terry Klaver, Tim Klaver, Curtis Klaver, Donnie Potthoff, Dennis Potthoff, and Randy Potthoff. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. on Monday at the church prior to the Funeral Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left at the church for St. Anthony Foundation.

Yvonne was born on December 19, 1942, to Alvin & Marie (Riesberg) Potthoff in Carroll, Iowa. She graduated from Garrigan High School, in Algona, Iowa.

On November 16, 1970, Yvonne was united in marriage to Roger Klaver. They farmed south of Kamrar, Iowa, until 1978. They then moved to Strawberry Point, Iowa, where Yvonne worked at the City Hall. In 1987, they moved to Carroll, Iowa, where Yvonne worked at the Carroll County Court House-Clerk of Court’s Office until her retirement.

Yvonne was a woman of deep faith and was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. After retirement, she spent many hours volunteering for organizations such as New Hope Bargain Shop, St. Anthony’s Hospital Auxiliary, RSVP, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, and many others. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends (including morning coffee, her widows’ group, or socializing at happy hour), walking, being outdoors, and tending to her flowers/landscaping.

Yvonne is survived by her children: Terry (Beth) Klaver, Kamrar, IA; Tim (Angie) Klaver, Eldora, IA; Marcy (Nate) Puck, Carroll, IA; Curtis (Malinda) Klaver, Ames, IA; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Carlene O’Connor, Long Lake, MN; her brother Donnie (Jane) Potthoff, Algona, IA, and Dennis (Deb) Potthoff, Blue Springs, MO. She was blessed with a large family and has many surviving family/friends.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Klaver; her parents, Alvin and Marie Potthoff and stepfather Al Lickteig; her siblings: James Potthoff and Deloras Volkmeier; her daughter-in-law, Susan Klaver; her brother-in-law, Lester Klaver; and great granddaughter, Harbor Huntley.
