Janet Doering

It has pleased the Almighty God in his infinite wisdom to call from this earth to himself in heaven the soul of Janet Jean Doering. She died on November 5, 2025 having attained the age of 94 years.

Janet was born March 3, 1931, to Wallace and Vera Mae (Dillon) Schwinger. She was baptized on June 21, 1931, at the Salem Evangelical Church in Hubbard. Janet was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hubbard. Her confirmation bible verse was Psalm 145:18,19. “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them”.

On September 17, 1949, Janet was united in marriage to Wilbert “Poody” Doering. Janet and Poody enjoyed 27 years of wintering in Apache Junction, AZ. Janet served as host to the Y.A.H. Club and enjoyed taking many trips with this group. She was also a Sunday School and Bible School teacher at St. John’s. In May of 2018 Janet and Poody moved to Windsor Manor in Webster City. Janet then moved to the Hubbard Care Center, January, 2025.

Survivors include four sons, Stephen (Diane) of Webster City, Michael (Brenda) of Hubbard, Craig (Linda) of Ames and Larry (Lynn) of Hubbard; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, four step great grandchildren and one step great great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy Doering.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Poody (2021), her parents, Wallace (1983), Vera (1997), brother, Wallace Jr (2009), and foster son, Bob Carel (2024).
