Theodore Lawrence Tomashewsky was born in Detroit, MI, to Andrew and Frances Tomashewsky on October 22, 1938. He attended and graduated from Garden City (MI) Public Schools and worked for Ford Motor Credit Union in Detroit and Peterson Construction, Webster City Custom Meats, and Boone Valley Housing in Webster City. In 1970, he married Beverly (Noffke) at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Webster City where he remained an active member until his death. Following their marriage, he and Beverly moved to the Detroit area and then back to Webster City in 1974 where they lived for many years on Meadow Lane in the house with the John Deere tractor painted on the garage door. He served on the Webster City Police Reserves and was a Lions Club member. Throughout his life Ted enjoyed keeping up with the latest activities of his children and grandchildren and loved traveling to see family. He particularly loved seeing his grandchildren’s sporting events; he also regularly cheered for the Detroit Tigers and Iowa State. Much of his life revolved around the water, whether it was fishing, living on the water in Michigan, or visiting Little Wall Lake where he and Bev would simply watch and listen to the waves hitting the shore. During the past few years, Ted spent many hours playing cards and enjoying breakfast with the guys.
He is survived by his wife, Bev; daughters, Katrina (Amon) Muganyizi of Omaha, NE, Kristine (Jesse) Odegaard of Armstrong, IA; son, Andrew (Suzanne) Tomashewsky of Bay City, MI; grandchildren, Christian (Veronica) Muganyizi of Portland, OR, Sam Muganyizi of Omaha, NE, Shawn Odegaard of Medillia, MN, Logan Odegaard of Lakefield, MN, and Lillia and Micah Tomashewsky of Bay City, MI; great-grandchildren Mateo Muganyizi of Portland, OR, and Beckett Odegaard of Lakefield, MN; sister-in-law Gerry Tomashewsky of Westland, MI, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Dwain (Mary) Noffke of Webster City, IA, and Darlene (Ross) of Yorkville, IL, Bev’s cousin Colleen Aldridge of Ankeny, IA, and many nieces and nephews. Ted is preceded in death by his parents and brother (Alexander) and sister (Mary Brick).
