Josephine Fletchall

Josephine (Jo) Virginia Fletchall, 89, of Webster City, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 11, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Webster City with refreshments to follow.
Born August 6, 1936, in rural Sheffield, IA, to Frank and Emma (Hill) Gauley, she was the youngest of 12 siblings. She graduated from Sheffield High School in 1954. She then attended the University of Iowa where she received a BA in English in 1958. She later received a Masters of Library Science from the U of I in 1983.
She began and ended her career at Kendall Young Library where she met her husband Loran. They married August 16, 1959, in Sheffield, IA. The years in between were spent farming and working at the Webster City Junior High School library and as head librarian in the Clarion/Goldfield School District. Jo was actively involved with the Hamilton County Democrats, League of Women Voters and Vacation Bible School at Asbury. A lifelong learner and devoted teacher, she had a passion for knowledge and helping others. She cherished her role as grandma and GG Jo to the great-grandbabies.
Jo is survived by her husband of 66 years, Loran; her children, Michael Fletchall and Marcy Harper; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kendall Young Library, Hamilton County Democrats, Asbury United Methodisth Church or Van Diest Medical Center where the entire staff took amazing care of her during her many hospitalizations.
