Willis G. Ubben Sr.
Willie Ubben, Sr., 92, formerly of Stratford, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, after a short illness. He had been living in Aurora, Colorado with one of his daughters for the past 3 ½ years.
Willis G. Ubben, Sr, was born at home on a farm near Kamrar, Iowa on November 8, 1932, to Walter and Gladys (Johnson) Ubben. He had two younger siblings, Wayne Ubben and Waneta Hall. He graduated from Kamrar High School in 1950, and he began farming with his father. He spent a brief time in the Army and was discharged due to an injury.
On June 14, 1957, he married Sharon Kay Branyord in Webster City, Iowa. They moved to a farm north of Stratford, Iowa where they raised five children. The couple later divorced. Willie lived in southern California until March of 2022, when he moved to Aurora, Colorado.
Willie worked in construction operating heavy equipment most of his adult life, including long after most people retire.
Willie is survived by his five children, Willie Jr. (Elaine) of Stratford, Wally of Webster City, Shannon (Jay Renfro) of Aurora, CO, Shawn (Ubben) Bergquist of California and Sonya (Rob Edge) of Stratford; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, four grandchildren, Benjamin Ubben, Abranda Ubben, Stacie Philbrook and Brice Bergquist and both of his siblings.
Per his request, he was cremated and there will be a memorial service held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO on August 13th at 3:00 PM.
